Dale Satake
Retired Entrepreneur and Marketing Executive
Dale Satake has been a member of the Side by Side Board since 2017. As a former business owner and entrepreneur, Dale brings experience in operations, marketing, project management, customer relations and finance. She currently serves as the national advancement committee chair for AAUW (American Association of University Women), the oldest women’s advocacy organization in the U.S. Past volunteer positions include United Way Community Services of Central Maryland Board president, AAUW Marin Board president, Kappa Alpha Theta Marin board president, and Columbia Foundation Board Trustee. As a third generation Japanese American whose parents were sent to internment camps during WWII, Dale has experienced firsthand the power of a helping hand and is devoting her retirement time to “paying it forward” so others can navigate the challenges of life.

Howard is passionate about serving youth in need. His professional experience working in management, marketing, and P&L oversight has contributed to his role as Side by Side Board President from 2020-2022. Howard’s previous volunteer experience includes coaching basketball for the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), volunteering for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and serving on the Advisory Board for Wender Weis. CEO/Founder of HiFidelity Entertainment, his professional career included positions in marketing for Unilever, Nestle, and MCA/Universal. Howard lives in Ross with his family and dog and enjoys traveling, music, tennis and studying history and politics.

Ryan has worked with and advised a number of non-profits on legal matters over the past fifteen years, including Mind Matters SF, the Earth Institute and Sanctuary for Families. A United States Marine Corps Veteran, former attorney, and pilot, he currently works in M&A, strategy, and venture investments for Cadence Design Systems, Inc. Parent of a former student at Side by Side’s Irene M. Hunt School, Deanna joined the Side by Side board to support the agency that provided her son with the resources and tools he needed to succeed in school and life. In addition to co-chairing Side by Side’s Reach for the Stars Gala since 2019 and serving as SBS’s Development & Communication Committee Chair, Deanna has volunteered for the Ross Valley Mothers' Club and 4 schools over the past 16 years. Deanna serves as Senior Corporate Counsel for Autodesk and is a California-licensed attorney, as well as holding an LL.M. in Tax. Deanna resides in San Anselmo, CA with her husband and two sons.

For more than 18 years, Ina has led an Executive Search firm, placing operational management, client service, and business development executives across a diversity of growth sectors including Endowment, Non-Profit, Higher Education, Asset Management, Private Equity, Fin-Tech, and Multi-Family Office. Prior to entering Executive Search, Ina held leadership roles with finance and asset management firms. She subsequently moved to senior operating roles with technology firms, including the founding COO/CFO with Pixion, an early provider of web-conferencing solutions. Ina’s unique background allows her to integrate a deep financial markets knowledge and network with an emerging markets discipline. Ina has been a passionate fundraiser and Board member for a number of non-profits dedicated to inclusivity, accessible education, and health services. Jennifer first joined Side by Side’s board in 2008 as a result of the agency’s merger with Children’s Garden and continued on the board until terming off in 2018. She has remained very active in SBS’s Gala Committee and rejoined the Board of Directors in 2022. An HR professional, Jennifer is currently the Human Resources Manager at Ropers Majeski PC in Menlo Park and was previously employed at Brayton Purcell LLP. Jennifer has been involved with Marin County Personnel Commission since 2016 and served on Marin Workforce Development Board and Schools of the Sacred Heart Alumni Board. Bernadette Miller

A long-time resident of San Rafael, Bernadette is passionate about helping youth achieve educational, social, and psychosocial success. With her husband, she raised two boys to young men in San Rafael, working closely with public schools to ensure their unique needs were met. Bernadette served on the Glenwood Elementary School PTA Board and currently volunteers at San Quentin State Prison. Bernadette's professional career includes influential roles at Nissan, Levi's, Gap, Autodesk, and Clorox. As a consumer insights leader, she helped organizations gain a greater understanding of their consumers' needs. Bernadette is an empowering and empathic leader who has developed and mentored many individuals and both functional and cross-functional teams. An attorney and nonprofit consultant, Vamsey has a particular passion for working with youth who have personally been impacted by adversity. Through his consulting career, he has worked with numerous high performing nonprofits throughout the Bay Area, providing interim Executive support, Theory of Change articulation and implementation, and evaluation support. He is currently the Managing Director of Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ, pronounced "courage"), an Oakland-based nonprofit focused on uplifting the political consciousness of systems impacted youth of color. Joy, a Glenwood Guild volunteer for over 51 years, joined the agency’s board as an ex-officio member representing SBS’s Guild volunteers and their support of the Hunt School and other programs. She has also been involved with several nonprofits including the Marin Cultural Association, Italian Street Painting, and is a founding member of Dominican University of California’s Women, Leadership & Philanthropy Council. She serves as a Program Officer for the Fenwick Foundation, helps clients with their photo memories at FOREVER, and has an art studio at Art Works Downtown in San Rafael. Joy is an avid traveler and photographer.
